A casual dining spot with great chicken and chicken sandwiches! My husband and I went here on a Friday evening and would love to come back! Atmosphere: There was plenty of seating and has a more quick / casual feel. The food came out quickly (probably a ~5 minute wait). Food: Very flavorful chicken! My favorite was the chicken sandwich - the portion sizes were great, the sauce was very tasty, and I enjoyed this sandwich more than other casual chicken sandwich places. Overall: 5/5 - We would love to come back for a quick meal / to fill a chicken sandwich craving!
Skip Raising Canes and all the other chicken places- go straight here instead! I ordered the Chicken Sando combo box, fully expecting a "passable" sandwich to come out. While this isn't a true Nashville Hot (served on white bread with the sauce), it's fabulous in its own way. I got a HUGE piece of chicken breast , tasty sauce, lots of pickles, slaw and fresh hot waffle fries. Give this place more business- it's better than anything else around that area!
We came by here cause the kids wanted something to snack on. We saw this sold chicken wings, so we wanted to try out this place. Once we walked in we were greeted by the cashier. We order a 6 piece plain and a 6 piece hot chicken wings. Once we got our order we took it back to our hotel to eat it. There are spots you can sit and dine in if you like. The wings here was great. Nice crunch to it too. Shoutout to whomever fried our wings cause they were legit.
Fast service! Ordered through GrubHub and UberEats and they were ready within 15 minutes. Food -Chicken and waffle: do order. Finally, firm waffles that aren't soggy along with crispy chicken. I opted for "hot" and they delivered. -Chicken bites: crispy and good enough size. Indifferent about the jalapeño slices. It's located in the corner of 3rd and Market and easily accessible. I came in around 1:20pm and there were a lot of people sitting in.
We were craving chicken wings during Super Bowl and we decided to to get wings from a fast food chain and also a local wing shop to get our cravings but also to see if there's a big difference between quality. This place might have just won best wings that is not KFC (Korean fried chicken). But then again I think this wing place is Asian fusion so that might explain why their fried chicken is so delicious! We got the soy garlic and the wild zing with cheese seasoned. It came with different dipping sauces and cold slaw. I really like how you can specify the spicy level of each order. After tasting how delicious their chicken wings are, I'm definitely going to have to come back and try their chicken sandwich as well one day! Also after the comparison, I will never buy wings from any fast food chain. The quality is sooo much better at places like this!! Also better to support local businesses.
I was in the mood for a good chicken sandwich here. I just had to go back. Service was even faster than before and I ordered the same exact thing. The only thing I forgot to ask them was not to put any honey mustard type of sauce on my sandwich because I'm just not a fan of anything mustard. I ate the sandwich anyway and it actually wasn't that bad, especially considering I'm not a fan of mustard type sauces. I could barely finish the sandwich as you can see by the size of this thing, you could split it with someone. I don't know what type of seasoning they use on those fries, but they are truly amazing. I will definitely be back! What is your favorite chicken inspired place in West Philly?
I'm not a big spicy food eater, but as Hangry Joe's is close to my condo I figured I would give it a try and hope for the best. I ordered the Chicken sandwich mild, with fries and a soda. I found a seat inside and my order was brought out to me. The sandwich is huge. It turns out even the mild is spicy, but right on that border of being too spicy for me. I definitely wouldn't have liked anything hotter. The chicken itself if large, perfectly cooked, and juicy. The slaw on top is necessary to cut into the heat. The fries are waffle fries, very good and similar to that other famous chicken place but not quite up to their level of perfection. Hangry Joe's is a welcome addition to my Old City Neighborhood.
Casual spot with a few tables and window stools. Order at the register or kiosk (setup a few feet from the register). Service was efficient. Tried the soy garlic and the mild wings and they were delicious! and went well with the cabbage slaw and pickles that comes with. They also included some sauces in our takeaway bag and they were tasty, as well. Definitely worth a repeat visit.
FOOD I ordered Combo #1, which consisted of a chicken sando, fries, and a fountain drink. I got the chicken sando in medium spicy, and Mountain Dew for the drink. The sandwich is HUGE, and I ended up splitting it into two meals. It was spicy but tolerable--not enough that I needed water between bites or dying by the end of the meal. If I ever visit again, I'd try going up a level to hot, but the level thereafter requires a waiver before consumption. The fries for the combo were few (only ~5), so I was disappointed there. They seasoned it well and provide the same sauce as that of the sandwich's for dipping. Think of the sauce as a Raising Cane's sauce but on the sweeter, more garlicky side. Nevertheless, the fries paired well with the sandwich. DRINKS Assorted fountain drinks (Pepsi line: Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Brisk unsweetened/sweetened tea, etc.) and bubble tea are available for purchase. If you order a combo, a fountain drink comes with the meal. SERVICE Service was quick and standard. I received my order within 10 minutes of ordering. When you order, you have the option of using the self-kiosk or going up to the register. AMBIANCE Ample seating is available within the store. It's roomy, a casual place to grab a meal, and/or a good place for takeout. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity.
It seems like it's a new spot and spicy chicken always catch my eyes...but don't make a mistake like me, I got the angry hot wings and regretted it till the next day. I am your regular hotpot girl but this thing is on the next level, by the time I have had my 6th wing I was already sweating all over and couldn't feel my tongue and lips any more. Needless to say you should not go anywhere the next day without an instant bathroom access, that's why you would have to sign a waiver(as picture). I still finished what I ordered though, and as I type I can feel the tingly sensation on my fingers from touching the wings. The taste was pretty good so if I had another chance I would definitely just go for the mild one! I also got the bubble tea along with it but the lumpy boba was stuck the half way through. If you are getting hot or angry hot, go across the street to an Indian restaurant and get a mango lassi instead, trust me, you will need it.
